Right back into another hectic season of weddings and being a documentary wedding photographer. Creating candid wedding memories, and I’m getting happily back into a good working rhythm. Already this year I have put in some miles around the country as I do every year, Cork, Kerry of course and certainly beyond. What I personally enjoy about this is that the people and weddings will vary county to county. This for me keeps the working method fresh. You just can’t rest on your laurels but keep pushing, always finding a new angle to a different day. And while this has become instinctive to me the feedback received on a set of pictures is always welcome.
I always get blown away by the responses I receive from clients when they view their photographs, and that they sense that I tapped into who they are. revealing certain characteristics of certain people, the fun and the poignancy, the serious conversations, capturing the essence of the day without ever needing to have that day overblown or exaggerated or even just random.
There is a subtle nature to the way I work. And after all this time and experience I soon get into a rhythm when I start to photograph a wedding and the story evolves. Because in my view this is the only way it can be. This way of working has always been formed by those I have worked for, that feedback is vital to me. Before we shake hands on any deal it is also important for me to know that if you are to book me then you get it, you get what I am about and how I work. As I have stated previously, there is only one way of approaching your wedding. And that is in a complete candid manner, there will be no other way.
